Visitation
Ned Koser

This is one of the more important ministries of Congregation Roeh Israel, fulfilling the command to “visit the sick.” Ned and others visit those in the hospital as well as those who are sick at home, bringing comfort and fellowship to those who are in need. This ministry of helps and prayer is an integral part of the healing process.

Food bank—Russian Jewish Outreach
Mike Cherochak and Eliezer Urbach

The Roeh Israel Food Bank has been operating for more than a decade. Growing from a humble beginning serving a few families to now serving approximately 80 families from our congregation and the large Russian Jewish community in Denver.

Every other week Russian-Jews come to Roeh Israel to hear music and message in their native language about the Messiah.

Our food bank is staffed by volunteers who consider it an honor to serve others in the name of the Messiah.

For more information, please call the Roeh Israel office at 303-337-6254.

Young Adults (16yrs+)
Evan Levine

The Young Adult Ministry ministers to young adults in the congregation spiritually, emotionally and physically.  Young Adult Chavarah is held weekly on Saturday evenings. The activities vary from sports activities to praise and worship to Bible study, movies and games. Each year the Young Adults also participate in special activities like concerts and retreats.

Shabbat school
Bonnie Sherrill and Victoria Gonzales

Roeh Israel Shabbat School’s mission is to “train up a child in the way he should go.” We have classes for children ages 3-12 during the Friday night Erev Shabbat and Saturday morning Shabbat services. The children stay in the sanctuary for the liturgical service and then go to their classes during the sermon. They return to the sanctuary to worship the Lord in song and dance.

Our Shabbat school program is based on four basic areas:

  • Knowledge of God’s Word and how to use the Bible, including memorizing Scripture verses.
  • Understanding Messianic Judaism through the Biblical Holy Days, Jewish festivals and traditions.
  • Learning the Hebrew Alef-Bet and beginning to read and speak Hebrew
  • Most importantly, understanding the plan of salvation and a personal relationship with Messiah Yeshua

The children actively participate in all the celebrations by asking the four questions during the Passover Seder, decorating the Sukkah at the Feast of Tabernacles, performing during the Chanukah program and enjoying a fun festival at Purim.

We also have a “summer camp” program where all age groups meet together and we teach a special curriculum. During the summer of 2004 we will go through Kids Around the World, published by the Caleb Project, which will teach the children to have a heart for missions. At the end of the summer program we present a special performance for the congregation.

At Congregation Roeh Israel we see our children as the future leaders of the Body of Messiah and seek to equip them to live a life pleasing to the Lord.

Men’s Shacharit Service and Prayer Breakfast
Bill Berg

Join us each Sunday morning at 6:15 am for a traditional Jewish weekday morning prayer service. Men are encouraged to don tallit (prayer shaul) and t’fillin (phylacteries), as together we recite the messianized Shacharit service from the Art Scroll Sidur (prayer book). Prayers are recited in both Hebrew and English with transliterated Hebrew made available. Pre Bar-Mitzvah b’Yeshua are also encouraged to attend.

Each Sunday morning at 8:00, following Shacharit prayer, join the men of Roeh Israel for a hearty breakfast of scrambled eggs, lox and bagels; spontaneous prayer for one another, the Congregation and Israel follow. This is a time for bearing one another’s burdens and bonding in fellowship and brotherhood.

Hinaney Ministry
Craig and Kim Pearce

Hinaney—which means “Here am I,” is a ministry of helps at Congregation Roeh Israel. People who have expertise in various areas register with Hinaney and are called upon to help their brethren in times of need. This ministry fulfills the command that “those who are strong ought to bear up those who are weak and not just please themselves.” As a body God desires that we help one another—and this ministry fulfills that desire.
